Chapter 1: Rainy Days and Spilled Coffee...
"d**n, it's cold out there!" Billy shivvered, running into a crowded coffee shop, along with his close friends Elijah Wood, Dominic Monaghan and Orlando Bloom on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
"Yeah, it sure is nasty out there." Elijah whispered to no one in particular, gazing up at the dark grey clouded sky, rain pouring from the Heavens in what seemed to be buckets, small dropplets of water splattering on the windows of the crowded coffee shop and slithering down the double-pained glass, creating a melancoly feeling in the air.
"But I love the air after a storm, so crisp and clean, almost like a new beginning." Billy whispered, his emerald green eyes clouding over, letting out a contented sigh.
They were just about to go up to the counter to give the cashier their orders when a young woman cut in front of Billy. "Excuse me, lass, I was 'ere first." he stated calmly.
She quickly whipped around and a pair of emerald green eyes stared at him defiantly "Well, you should be a little faster next time, now shouldn't you?" she hissed.
Billy was taken aback by her difficult demeanor. "Well, I could 'ave just been rude to ye and snapped like ye just did!" Billy shot back.
"Well, perhaps you should just shut up and leave me alone and not piss me off! I've had a bad enough day as it is..." she trailed off, eyes turning misty, looking away.
"Are ye alright?" Billy asked, reaching out and rubbing her back comfortingly.
"I'm fine!" she snapped, slapping Billy's arm away. She turned around and staring into his eyes, seeing compassion in those emerald pools. Billy smiled sweetly and continued to rub her back, but this time, she didn't pull away.
"Now, what's the matter, eh lass?" he asked.
She sniffled, reluctant to discuss her personal problems with a stranger, but Billy seemed to have a compassionate, understanding quality which, these days, seems to her to be a rare quality in someone, "I just had a really bad day. I caught my boyfriend in bed with one of my friends and now I just found out that my mother has breast cancer, so I guess you could say that today has been pretty nutsty." she sobbed, revealing her pain. Billy pulled her into a friendly hug, trying to soothe her, "It's alright, don't cry lass, things will get better, trust me."
"Thank you," she paused, pulling away and smiling weakly, "I don't even know you and you've already helped me."
"It's called bein' human, I just saw someone in need an' decided ta help." he smiled down at the girl. "I'm Billy, by the way."
"Sierra Montgomery." she said, shaking his extended hand, sending warm shivvers up and down her spine.
"Sierra, that's a beautiful name," he paused as he felt a tap on his shoulder, he turned to meet the curious gazes and thingyed eyebrows of his close friends, "Would ye like to meet my friends?" he asked.
"Sure!" she smiled.
"Guys, this is Sierra...Sierra, this is Dom, Elijah, an' Orlando." Billy said, gesturing towards each person as he introduced them. "She's 'ad a pretty rough day, so is it alright if she 'as a bit of coffee with us?"
"Sure." they agreed in unison.
They walked up to an empty table, the only one containing enough seats for each of them and a young woman came up to them, "I'm Jessica, I'll be your server, what can I get you?" she asked sweetly. She stood at about 5'4, had shoulder length light brown hair and green eyes, all in all, she was beautiful and Elijah seemed to be quite taken by her.
Everyone gave their order and then she got to Elijah, "Yeah, I'll have just plain black coffee and your phone number." he said, smiling cheekily.
Jessica giggled nervously, "Coming right up." she said, before rushing off, trying to hide the blush creeping in her cheeks. A few minutes later, she returned, coffees in hand. She passed them out and when she reached Elijah, her hands were shaking so bad that she dropped it in his lap, causing him to leap up and let out a loud yelp. "Oh my God! I'm so sorry, sir! Are you alright?!" she paniced, fearing that he would be angry with her.
"It's alright, I'm fine, sweetheart. It's no big deal." he smiled sweetly at her. "How about that number?" he asked, trying to dry himself off with a few flemsy paper napkins.
Jessica giggled again, this time, not as nervously, "Sure, give me your hand." Elijah held out his hand for her and she pulled out a pen, writing her name and phone number on his palm, "Call me." she winked, walking off.
Sierra watched the scene play out before her in amazment, "You're really a ladies man, aren't you Elijah?" she laughed.
Elijah blushed crimson as Orlando answered for him, "Oh yeah, he sure is!" he replied, his accent and laugh thick and deep. "I think it's the eyes, either that, or the sort of childlike innocence that he has. I hope it's not the eyes, because I find them sort of creepy and desturbing at times, but the crazy little fan girls seem to love them!" he joked, causing Elijah to blush more.
"Fangirls?" Sierra asked, oblivious to Orlando's remark. "What, are you guys famous or something?"
"Well, you could say that. Have you ever seen 'Lord of the Rings'?" Dom asked, his blue-grey eyes glinting in amusment.
"Yeah...plenty of times..." she thought deeply, suddenly chocking on her coffee, her eyes widening in shock. "Oh my God! You are Elijah Wood, Dominic Monaghan, Orlando Bloom and Billy Boyd, aren't you?!"
"That would be us." Billy laughed amusedly.
"Oh my...umm...I should...umm...be going! Here's the money for my coffee, it was nice meeting you all!" she said and then hurried out the door.
'That was weird.' Billy thought to himself. Just then, he looked at the ground and saw a business card that must have fallen out of her purse during her mad dash toward the exit. 'Sierra Montgomery...Fashion Designer.', it read. 'Well, at least I'll be able to find her again.' Billy thought, idly sipping his coffee...
